LTC3870 spice model

Hi

Using LTSpice to model LTC3870.  The circuit uses 2 of these and NOT the LTC3880.  The macromodel test fixture uses LTC3880 and LTC3870 and the control parameters are entered into the LTC3880 device.  Using the LTC3870 on its own seems to work sometimes but its flakey. The problem is that it runs, then with the same values the simulation stalls.

So:

1. Can the LTC3870 model be run on its own?

2. Can you supply an ascii circuit model so I can input parameters?

3. Do you have any reference models for the LTC3870 on its own?

4. Any other suggestions for modelling this device?

Thanks

  • Hello John,

As we know, LTC3870 is the slave controller (or phase extender) to work with LTC3880, LTC3883, LTC3886 and LTC3887 master controller. There are no output voltage sensing pins and voltage loop inside LTC3870. So LTC3870 can not work alone without any master controller.

    For your application, you could consider LTC3880, LTC3883, LTC3886, LTC3887, LTC3884 or LTC3888 as a candidate.
