ADP5023 - ADIsimPower Simulation Tool

Hello,

My name is Meir and I am  DFAE from Phoenix technologies in Israel.

One of my customers would like to simulate the ADP5023 by using the excell based ADIsimPower simulator.

As I understuood, the BUCKs of ADP5023 are based on ADP2138 core, is it?

Shall I evaluate the ADP2138 in order to get the results for ADP5023?

We have dowloaded the tool fot it and after defining the parameters we can't get the ADP1038 option from the suggested list.

Here is the configuration for ADP5023:

Vin: 3.3V

Vout(BUCK1)=2.1V/0.5A - can't evaluate the ADP2138 - Why?

Vout(BUCK2)=1.2V/0.4A - can evaluate the ADP2138

Vout(LDO)=2.5V/0.1A


Attached a file with the results from simulation tool:

Page1 depicts the Configuration, that ADP2138 option is not suggested

Page2 depicts the Configuration, that ADP2138 option is suggested


Please advise how can we simulate the the ADP5023 for above described configuration.

    You are correct in that the bucks of the ADP5023 are fundamentally the same as the ADP2138. There are some parameters differences though, such as compensation, switch sizes etc. The reason that you cannot get the ADP2138 option for 2.1V output from the ADP21XX buck designer is that the part only has fixed output voltage 0.8, 1, 1.2, 1.5, 1.8, 2.5, 2.8 and 3.3V. The ADP5023 is available for fixed output 3.3 V, 3.0 V, 2.8 V, 2.5 V, 2.3V, 2.0 V, 1.8 V, 1.6 V, 1.5 V, 1.4 V, 1.3 V, 1.2 V, 1.1 V, 1.0 V, 0.9 V or adjustable. Contact a local sales or distribution representative for fixed output voltage options.

     

    We are working on the buck design tool for the uPMUs: ADP5023/24/33/34/37/40/41&ADP5133/34/35 and it will be available for downloading soon. For you reference, attached is the result from the preliminary tool for your design.

    Thank you for the answer.

    Could you please send the result from the preliminary tool including the schematic and BOM for the following condition:

    2.1V/0.5A - BUCK1

    1.2V/0.4A - BUCK2

    2.5V/0.1A- LDO

    I have not got the the results on your previouse responce.

    My customer is waiting for the answers asap.

    As I understand, the ADP5023ACPZ-2-R7 has the HIGH UVLO and can be used for 5V input only and not for 3.3V Input, is it?

    Is the ADP5023ACPZ-R2 has an ENABLE on LDO?

    Witch part number shall be choosed for 3.3V input and ENABLE on 2 BUCKs and LDO?

  • Hi Meir,

    ADP5023ACPZ –R7/ or R2 are the general part, there is no difference except reel package quantity, and the UVLO is

    For ADP5023ACPZ-2-R7 , UVLO is

     

    Active pull-Down enable: Active pull-down resistor( 75ohm for Buck channel and 60ohm for LDO) at the output for
    discharging is programmable to be either enabled or disabled. 

    There is individual Enable on 2 BUCKs and LDO for all the parts.

    In your case, you could choose ADP5023ACPZ –R7 or R2
