LTC4079E Li-ion IFR battery

Hi,

I am using LTC4079 for charging LiFePo4 battery. The battery can be charged at 7.2V but I noticed that when charging is enabled LTC4079 outputs 7V only. I followed recommendation from datasheet to use 1% resistor 1.37M and 267K.

Could anyone explain why output voltage is low? I expect 7.2V when in charge mode. I measured by disconnecting the battery +ve terminal and charging enabled.

Thanks

  • Hi Prabhat,

What voltage do you measure on the FB pin?

You should see less than 7.2V during the CC portion of the charge cycle. Once you see the current start to taper, the charge voltage will approach 7.2V. The final voltage of the battery once charging terminates should be 7.2V.

The other thing to watch out for is to make sure your input voltage is high enough to meet the dropout requirements. Try maybe 10V+ as a test (if you're not above that already) and see if that makes a difference.
