Our customer is looking for hardware-only safety monitor.
They are going to use 12V lithium ion battery stacks.
The system is going to use 4 cells.
The power will drop to 6[V].
They are going to use cell balance IC (not ADI) but they want to secure redundancy.
So I think AD8280 will be good solution for them.
They want to detect over/under voltage each battery cells and when they detect it , they want to shut-down the system.
Would AD8280 work for it?
Is it possible to guarantee -40°C < TA < +125°C ?
Unfortunately, the AD8280 temperature range can not be extended to 125C without a significant amount of re-qualification. The AD8280 is a good candidate for applications requiring a hardware monitor to check 4 x 3V cells for over an under or over voltage conditions otherwise.
