Noise below 100Hz in ADP1762/ADP1764

I am trying to determine which ADP1760 series regulator to use. I have a low current requirement (<2A) so it would seem that ADP1762 would be fine.

However, the ADP1764 and ADP1765 regulators have significantly lower noise below 100Hz than ADP1762 (or ADP1761 or ADP1763, which have identical reported data) according to the integrated noise summary in the data sheet.

Is this simply because the measurement conditions are different for the parts (10mA load for ADP1761/2/3 vs 100mA load for ADP1764/5)? Or is there something else different that I am missing?

  • Hi Atownley,

Yes there's a difference between the ADP1761/2/3 and ADP1764/5 in terms of noise performance. The noise filter in ADP1764/5 was improved and cutoff frequency is lower compared to that of the ADP1761/2/3 so more flicker noise are filtered on the ADP1764/5. If you're application is particular on the noise response, I suggest you use the ADP174 to achieve better noise performance.
