ADP3050 INVERTING (BUCK BOOST) REGULATOR

Hi all,

"ADP3050 Buck Regulator Design Tool" can not design the ADP3050 in a buck-boost configuration that produces a negative output voltage from a positive input voltage.

In the datasheet 18 page, "INVERTING (BUCK BOOST) REGULATOR"
The circuit in Figure 29 shows the ADP3050 in a buck-boost configuration.

For example, following output setting is available for ADP3050?
VIN:+5.0V
VOUT:-12.0V
IOUT:0.5~1A ;need to set less current ?

Best regards,
sss

  • Hello,

when you follow the math on page 18 you will see that the available output current for a +5V to -12V application is less than 250mA, hence, for more output power you need a part with a bigger switch rating. Once you have to go away from the ADP3050 you should look for a more modern part with higher and maybe adjustable switching frequency. The ADP2380 should be an candidate. Look for Vin,min (4.5V) and the Absmax. There is a design tool for an inverting BuckBoost topology available for the ADP238X family.
