ADP5091 function

Hi

I have a question regarding the storage function of the ADP5901

Overcharge prevention voltage 3.7 V
Overdischarge prevention voltage 3.0 V

Connect to the SETSD and TERM terminals if you want to How much should I set the resistance value.

HOD

  • Hi HOD,

you can refer to the datasheet page 21.

    3.7V TERM: 5.9Mohm, 4.02Mohm

    3V SETSD: 6.65Mohm, 3.32Mohm

    BR,

    Kevin

  • Hi

    Thank you for your answer.

And, What is V calculated for Vint_ref?

    HOD

  • Hi HOD,

the Vint_ref is 1.011V that is in page 5.

    BR,

    Kevin

  • Hi

    Thnak you for your answer.

    And , I have a question about ,

① The output voltage of REG OUT can be selected by VID, but it is output to SYS
Where can I determine the voltage?

② In this application, we are considering a configuration not connecting the battery to BACK_UP but harvester to VIN, capacitor or storage battery to BAT terminal,
Is it possible to control charging / discharging?

  • Hi HOD,

REG_OUT is regulated output that can be selected by VID but SYS is a floating output that can be charged up to TERM threshold. if you want to use this output, it's better to connect ADP5300 or ADP5301 at SYS pin controlled by ADP5091 PGOOD.

you can tie BACK_UP to ground if you don't use primary battery and tie SETBK to REF. the charing and discharging of BAT is still controlled by SETSD and TERM threshold.

    BR,

    Kevin

  • Hi Kevin

    Thank you for your answer.

In order to reduce the number of parts, select voltage by VID, and use direction REG_OUT
    Consider.
    that time,
    · The DIS_SW, REG_D0, REG_D1 pin can be set to any setting, or
Should I make it a connection?

    Best Regards

    HOD

  • Hi HOD,

if you don't use DIS_SW function, please connect to ground.

if you use the REG_OUT, please tie D0 and D1 to high. It's  better to tie PGOOD. or else, you can connect to ground.

    BR,

    Kevin

  • Hi

    Thank you for your answer.

Where should I connect specifically when using PGOOD?

    Best Regards

    HOD

  • Hi HOD,

the PGOOD can be directly connected to D0 and D1. it's better to program the SETSD higher than SETSD.

    BR,

    Kevin

  • Hi Kevin

    Thank you for your answer.

We are conducting the evaluation using ADP 5092 - 1 - EVALZ on our side.

Settings of SETSD, SETBK, SETPG, TERM, etc. are used as they are on the board.
Only the following, we have changed.
    · REG_D0, REG_D1 connected to PGOOD
    · 55.6 kΩ between VID and GND REG_OUT output 3.3 V
    · Capacitor between BAT and GND
    Are connected.

    In this state,
①. Supply 1 V from the constant voltage power supply to VIN, charge the capacitor
②When the capacitor reaches 3.6 V, charge stops and power supply stops from VIN
③Connect a load to REG_OUT and discharge the capacitor discharge
    ①→ ② → ③ are carried out.
When REG_OUT voltage is monitored at ① and ②, 3.3 V is observed,
    Regulation seems to be working.
    However,
In case ③, when the capacitor voltage becomes lower than 3.3 V, the capacitor voltage
A voltage of the same value as the drop voltage is output from REG_OUT
(For example, if the capacitor voltage is 2.8 V, REG_OUT also becomes 2.8 V)
Regulation does not seem to be operating at 3.3 V.
Even if the capacitor voltage falls below the VID setting (3.3 V), the REG_OUT voltage
In order to make it become the set voltage of VID, how to do it,
    Please kindly advise.

    Best Regards

    HOD
