How to use LTM8045 for getting +1.8V from -5V

Hello,

We received a question about a way for geeting +1.8V 4A from -5V from our customer. Following is one of the idea.

Can we use LTM8045 like this circuit?

If no, are there any idea for getting +1.8V 4A from -5V?

Best regards,

Akira

  • The LTM8045 can generate 1.8V on top of a 5V rail, but the LTM8045 does not have 4A output capability.

For the customer's application, I recommend the LT8709 in the Negative Inverting Converter configuration shown in the image below.  The circuit may run with a lower no-load input current if the customer uses a Schottky rectifier instead of the PMOS switch.
