LT8610AC In parallel or in the same board

Hello,

I'm designing a regulator from 28V to 5 - 5.1 V and I would like to place two LT8610AC. Is there a recommendation/application note on the connection/synchronization of two LT8610AC in the same board? I'm evaluating two options:

- Place two of them sharing the same load;

- Place two of them driving different portions of load at the same nominal VOut.

What would you suggest?

Thanks in advance.

  • HI, thanks for suggestion. I saw LT8650S as well as LT8645/46. I decided to use LT8610 because according to LTSpice simulations it lead to a small ripple (even in the range of 1 mV by proper selection of output capacitor and inductors) and in nominal conditions 3A would be enough to my needs. Now I'm trying to get some more margin aiming at worst case peak power handling up to 4.5/5 A.

    I wasn't able to simulate LT8645 (there is no LTSpiace model available)  while simulations of LT8650 seem to be slightly worse than those of LT8610AC from that point of view.

    Is this lower ripple  a real difference or it is only related to simulation model accuracy or am I just trying to nitpick?

    In case there would be no measured  sensible difference I agree with your suggestion to use LT8650S.

    Tahnks again
