Issue with ADP5014 Buck Designer

Good Day,

I am designing with the ADP5014 so i downloaded the "ADP5014_BuckDesigner"  Excel Tool.  I am using Excel 2010 and have enabled Macros I am able to input my design requirements.  I have a problem with the display of channels 2 and 3 and with the printout of the results for channel 3.  The "Linear/Log Graph" button is a long vertical bar obscuring a portion of the graphs for channels 2 and 3.  Furthermore, for channel 3, the "Efficiency" and "Power Loss" graphs are missing.  This is what channel 3 looks like:

Please can you help?

Thank  you,

Howard Robson

    Hi Howard,

The EXCEL tool is not supported now and please use LTSpice model to verify your circuit.

    BR,

    Kevin

  • Hi Kevin

After 2 weeks this your answer!!! This is extremely disappointing and not the kind of support I am used to from Linear Technology and Analog Devices.  The tool only needs a little bit of work to be extremely useful to knock out the basics of a design that can then be verified and optimized using LTSpice.  This spreadsheet is a big time saver.

    Regards,

    Howard

    Hi Howard,

Apology for the inconvenience.  Kevin is right that we stopped development and focused efforts on LTspice design tool. I can also see the error in my excel. We will look at this error and try to fix it but it may not be sooner as to the limited resource.

The excel recommends best performance according to the criteria set like best efficiency or smaller size. If it did not show prompts for possible issue (like thermals) then the recommended parts should be ok. It is also good to seek assistance through a local ADI FAE and verify design on a proto board.
