LTC4040 minimum battery voltage

Hello - I'd like to use the LTC4040 with a LiFePO4 battery.  At low temperatures (0 C) it has a voltage of 2.5 V even at full charge. The datasheet says that Vbat min is 2.7 V and undervoltage lockout is 2.45 V.

1) What is the lowest voltage of Vbat that will start the boost converter? Is it anything above Vuvlo or is it the 2.7V listed for Vbat?

2) Is there any way to change UVLO level?

Thanks for your help.

  • Hi Schuyler,

    1) It is this Vuvlo spec:

To be safe, you should assume you need the max 2.6V spec + 150mV hysteresis when rising, so 2.75V worst case.

    2) No, there's not, but I wouldn't recommend discharging the battery below that anyway. This is somewhat of a protection for over-discharge.
