Temperature Grade Reliability

Hi,

In ADI Linear power temperature, there is temperature grade E I H etc...

However, as far as I understand, the difficult between grade "E" and grade "I" is whether the part are guaranteed to meet specifications from  –40°C to 85°C junction temperature.

Grade "I" 100% guarantee to meet specifications from  –40°C to 85°C. Grade "E" is only guarantee to meet specifications from  0°C to 85°C.

However, Both "E" and  "I" is described their operating temperature is from -40°C to 85°C. Might I know if any difference in their Reliability? Can we apply to "E" device under minus degree?

    I pick LTC3007A as an example.  Both E and I are rated and can be used at –40°C to 125°C.

    Production lots go through a rigorous outgoing electrical quality tests that include 100% tested after packaging at 25°C to all datasheet’s electrical characteristic. Furthermore, each production lot is sample testing at hot and cold junction temperatures to some of the datasheet’s electrical characteristic as noted by red dot shown under conditions column of the specification table. It is important to note that if at any point a single part fails during sample testing, the lot will be 100% tested. The E-grade and I-grade products have a different sampling plan at these junction temperatures.

    - The E-grade sampling plan is 125 to 315 pieces sampled at 0°C and at 85°C. Specifications over the –40°C to 125°C operating junction temperature range are assured by design, characterization, and correlation with statistical process controls. 
    - The I-grade sampling plan is 1,000 pieces sampled at -40°C and at 125°C.

  • May I ask what is the H-grade sample? 

    are the sampling plan and the temperature the only different between the E, I and H garde
