LIPO Power Management

Hi,

Facing issues with LIPO battery charging while using LTC3558.
Battery fault occurs while charging a good battery which was discharged (below 2.5V).

Would like to know Is it possible to

1. Increase the charge current ,in LTC3558, to a higher value in trickle charged mode while cell voltage is between 2.5-2.9V

2. Are there any compatible chip which gives these user flexibility. We would like a soft control to increase current in case battery fault occurs.

  • The only way I know of to reduce the trickle charge is to change the Prog resistor. That will also change the full charge current.

I know there are other parts out there that have different trickle charge currents and longer/programable timers. I do not know what they are off the top of my head. One part you might consider looking at is the LTC3556. This also has a buck-boost and two bucks with the power path.
