LT3094 thermal pad connection

Hi, 

We are using LT3094 to generate -5v 20ma from - 12v. 

We made an error on the pcb that the thermal pad is floating instead of connected to input.

Meanwhile we got - 5v at the output.

Is there any performance degradation in this case?

  • Exposed pad (pin13) should be soldered on the PCB pad directly, and on the suggested layout on figure 16 of the datasheet, pin 1 and 2 is connected to pin13. This was suggested to allow heat to directly transfer from the die junction to the PCB metal. You're maybe getting the output you desire but if you wish to maximize the full performance of the regulator and avoid any thermal issue that may arise, you must follow the suggested layout on the datasheet.
