LTC2970 Vout Pin Default Type

Dear All:

LTC2970 Vout pin can control DC/DC power supply VFB control ,but LTC2970 not include EEPROM ,so we need to know if LTC2970 power on ,but MCU not initialize LTC2970 .At this time LTC2970 Vout pin status ,Will it be low?? This DC-Dc Power solution will be shorted or other????

  • Hi Jack,

At power-on the LTC2970 VOUT0/1 pins are high impedance. It is only after you command the part to connect the DAC, using an SMBus command, that it will begin driving. You should design your DC/DC power converter to start in a safe configuration before the LTC2970 begins to drive it. This might include either configuring the feedback resistors to drive a safe voltage, or using the GPIO pins to command the DC/DC converter OFF at start-up so the MCU has a chance to initialize the LTC2970 registers before the DC/DC turns on. Ideally you will do both of these, since it adds safety to the system.

    Thanks!
