Question about LT3484

A transformer of the data sheet recommendation is unavailable and examines a substitution product.

It is beyond a range of table 1, but I want to know whether it is all right even if I use it

I'm Isao working with Keita.
We are designing a product using "LT3484-0 or LT3468".
But, "TDK LDT565630T-001" has been discontinued.
We are considering using "ATB322524-0110-T000" instead it.
However, there are differences from the recommended values described in the data sheet,Is it possible to use it?
Our prototype circuit is working.
Is there no problem if the prototype circuit can satisfy "Figure 4. New Transformer Design Check" in the data sheet?

Recommended Transformer Parameters
 Primary Inductance           >5  uH
 Primary Leakage Inductance   100 to 300 nH
 Secondary: Primary Turns Ratio 1:8 to 1:12
 Primary Winding Resistance <300 m ohm
 Secondary Winding Resistance <40 ohm

TDK ATB322524-0110-T000
 Primary Inductance           7.0±20% uH
 Primary Leakage Inductance   400 nH
 Secondary: Primary Turns Ratio 1:10.2
 Primary Winding Resistance    500 m ohm max
 Secondary Winding Resistance  60 ohm max
 
 

It should work, but the peak current should be kept well below 1.5A somewhere in 1.0A range. Looks like at higher currents the ATB322524-0110-T000 enters saturation region.

The higher winding resistance will have to be tested its impact to efficiency.

Hello Fil,

I have an application with the LT3848-1 and am contemplating using the same transformer as Keita and Piro_gue.

The specs of the  ATB322524-0110-T000 seem to match the 3484-1 well, except for the primary inductance. (3484-1 recommends >10uH, ATB has 7uH).

Do you think using this ATB transformer with the 3484-1 would be ok despite the much lower primary inductance?

Reference values:

Vout: 160V

N: 10.2

Ipk: 0.7A

According to the formula in the LT3484 spec sheet, the minimum for these values is 4.5uH. So in theory 7 should be fine?

You can test the using ATB322524-0110-T000 as the primary transformer. However we cannot grantee full operation out side the suggest parameters.
