hello, it should not heat up considerably even at 24V input. I suggest you can check some pin voltages and waveforms, such as VOUT, VIN, SW, and BOOST. Also you can check the soldering. And if possible, check the input current.
Make sure the exposed pad is properly solder to PCB too for the heat dissipation.
