LT8708 for regenerative braking

Category: Hardware
Product Number: LT8708

I'm currently designing an application where I have a 12V battery that powers a 24V motor. My motor can sometime gain energy in the field and its voltage can rise up to 40V. During this voltage rise, I'd like to use this motor energy to charge my battery.
I've ran by accident into your following chip : LT8708.

I did not see any crystal clear application regarding the LT8708 with regenerative breaking. I understand that it can controls bidirectionally a DC/DC converter, however would this chip according to your best knowledge be suitable for my application?

Thanks a lot guys!

Best regards
