The theoretical speed for a cable can be calculated with t_clk>0.45us+2*t_cable (~5ns per meter, speed the pulse travels down the cable).
For 100m cable t_cable is therefore 500ns, so the t_clk must be at least 450ns+2*500ns=1.45us. This corresponds to 690kHz maximum data rate.
