The MAX77818 integrated circuit chip (IC) will enter this mode when adaptor input is weak or high resistance. You can produce AICL interrupt by having input supply current limited to below the input current limit setting of the IC. Say you setup 1A charging and your input current limit setting is 1A, then you plug in a 5V 500mA current limited supply at CHGIN. The CHGIN voltage will collapse to near CHGIN regulation voltage and the IC will enter this AICL mode and reduce charging current to prevent CHGIN from further collapse.
