How do I disable the charge-pump on the MAX17303?

The MAX17303 uses a charge-pump to drive the high-side protection FETs. If the protection feature is not required, then the charge-pump and protection FETs may be bypassed. Below is the hardware/firmware configuration to properly disable the charge-pump and protection FETs.

Disable Protection:

  • Short CP to BATT pin
  • Short CHG to BATT pin
  • Connect DIS pin to GND via 1MOhm resistor
  • Clear the enProt bit in the nNVCfg1 register (i.e. enProt = 0)
