What are the benefits of using a Fuel Gauge with SHA-1 or SHA-256?
SHA-1 is used to authenticate that a valid genuine battery pack is used, preventing counterfeit batteries causing possible under performance and damage. SHA-1 is used in some of the DS277X devices and the DS2784. SHA-256 provides a longer key and therefore more security, and is used in devices such as the MAX17201/MAX17205/MAX17211/MAX17215
