P-mos never switch.

Category: Hardware
Product Number: LTC4100

Hi everyone,

I have a problem with my LTC4100 system and I can’t figure out what is going wrong.

The issue is that it never switches the TGATE. Because of that, I end up with practically a short between my input supply (inlet) and the battery. It looks like the top gate is just not being controlled correctly.

At the beginning, I discovered that my DCDIV resistor divider was wrong. So I guess that the LTC4100 was not even considering charging the system because the DC input voltage was not detected correctly. I corrected the resistor divider values, and now the DCDIV voltage should be within the proper range.

My battery is the RRC2130, which should be able to communicate with the LTC4100 as a master via SMBus.

But even after fixing the DCDIV issue, it still does not work. TGATE never switches and I still have the same problem.

Has anyone experienced something similar or can give me an idea what I should check? Maybe I am missing something simple.

Here is the circuit.

Thank you a lot!
