I am using the MAX17205 to monitor a 2S1P cell pack, for which I want to do cell balancing.
I am also using the S-8252AAY-I6T1U dual cell protection from ABLIC, which has two low side NFET DO and CO.

My charger is the BQ25883.
If I connect the MAX17205 directly to the cells, and the dual ABLIC protection behind the MAX Rsense,. I works well, but I can't use the I2C without bridging the GND, DO and CO on the dual ABLIC.
I would have to use a i2C isolator.
If I connect the S-8252 first, the and MAX after, I have 100th of uA going in or out of the MAX, creating an unstable state for the ABLIC.
Please confirm that the MAX17205 cannot work, or is not design for, connecting a low side protection IC between the MAX and the cells, if we want to do call balancing on a 2S1P.
Is my only option to use an I2C isolator ?
