An ideal diode, a schottky with higher losses, a resistor parallell with a "soft start relay" - there are many ways to reduce inrush current when a battery is hot plugged.
All extra components increases the total cost so my question is are there capacitors types that handles peak current better so extra protection can be excluded?
I have just started to read the data sheet so what happens is not clear yet. I don't know the voltage on Cbat etc. just before the battery will be plugged in.
