Monitoring SE20542NR29 Battery with LTC2943 — Compatibility and Setup Questions

Category: Datasheet/Specs
Product Number: LTC2943

Hello everyone,

I’m working on monitoring an SE20542NR29 14.4V, 5.7Ah, 82.08Wh Lithium-Ion battery using the LTC2943 Battery Monitoring IC, and I have a few questions:

  1. Is the LTC2943 IC compatible with the SE20542NR29 battery specifications?
  2. Can the LTC2943 interface directly with the MSP432E401Y MCU over I²C without any issues?
  3. Without the DC509 adapter, EVM, and QuikEval software, is it possible to manually initialize the LTC2943 by directly writing to its I²C registers?

Any guidance or insights would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

    1. Is the LTC2943 IC compatible with the SE20542NR29 battery specifications?
I quickly looked the battery and LTC2943 should work without any issues with LTC2943. You have to make sure sense+ pin of LTC2943 wrt sense- voltage doesn't go below 3.6V.
    2. Can the LTC2943 interface directly with the MSP432E401Y MCU over I²C without any issues?
Any MCU should work as long as it can communicate over I2C with the LTC2943.
    3. Without the DC509 adapter, EVM, and QuikEval software, is it possible to manually initialize the LTC2943 by directly writing to its I²C registers?
Yes, LTC2943 can be initialized without the EVAL boards or software.
