How Can I Develop for LTC6813-1 BMS System?

Question

I want to add overvoltage and overcurrent protection to this BMS IC, how can I do this? Also, how should I connect to the power supply when using this integrated circuit (development card)? In other words, if it will not be in the form of supply > bms > cell, what can I do to control and protect the cells charged via the supply?

 Over/Under voltage thresholds can be programmed by writing to Configuration Register A. LTC6813-1 cannot measure current hence there is no way to detect over current. To measure current we generally recommend ADBMS2950B, this is pack monitor which measures current on the entire pack (this device works with the latest BMS Device from ADI - ADBMS6830B).

 The IC will not charge the cells, IC will be powered from the cells themselves, no need to supply any voltage for the BMS to work. If its protection from events occurring due to over voltage/current, you will need to constantly monitor the parameters and disconnect the charging circuit. Here is an example of how the system can be designed, if you are using latest BMS products 6830B and 2950B:)
