In datasheets and component selection, the schematic is recommended as 2-type that 13-wire and 15-wire for AFE filters and balancing as picture below.
By the way, in case of 13-wire, TME is measured at maximum of 10mV and average of 5mV.
However, in case of 15-wire, there is no problem the measurement value of TME.
That is why, I would like to know what is difference between them and the characteristics of both.
Please let me explain kindly.
Regardless of part used sharing the power and measurement wire will always lead to some error for the top and bottom cell. This is because the wire and connector for the harness have nonzero resistance. Therefore the current to power the IC will cause a small voltage drop on the wire, and this is measured by the ADC. In the separate power and measurement wire case there is no drop on any of the measurement wires as the power is provided via a different wire, so this error is not present.
Hi Mvrablic,
thank you for your kind answer.
I have one more question about your answer.
in case of 15-wire, is it separate power and measurement wire? that is why, it does not have any problem. please confirm it.
And is there any documentation or user guide about it?
This is correct. 13 wire and 15 wire could also be described as shared power/measurement wires and separate power/measurement wires. The component selection guide you have covers both, but for the best accuracy separate power and measurement wires (15 wire) should be used
