AFE Filters and balancing network

Category: Datasheet/Specs
Product Number: ADBMS6815M

In datasheets and component selection, the schematic is recommended as 2-type that 13-wire and 15-wire for AFE filters and balancing  as picture below.

By the way, in case of 13-wire, TME is measured at maximum of 10mV and average of 5mV.

However, in case of 15-wire, there is no problem  the measurement value of TME.

That is why, I would like to know what is difference between them and  the characteristics of both.

Please let me explain kindly.

  • Regardless of part used sharing the power and measurement wire will always lead to some error for the top and bottom cell.  This is because the wire and connector for the harness have nonzero resistance.  Therefore the current to power the IC will cause a small voltage drop on the wire, and this is measured by the ADC.  In the separate power and measurement wire case there is no drop on any of the measurement wires as the power is provided via a different wire, so this error is not present.
