Max77654 Battery Connector

Question

Hi, 
 
 I have a MAX77654 EV KIT, in this the battery connector's (J9) pin 1st is +ve connected to the MAX77654 chip and 2nd pin is connected to GND. 
 I also have Li+ battery -PL 502535 (3.7V). When I connect this battery to the Max77654 board, the +ve wire of the battery goes to -ve pin on maxim board and -ve pin of the battery goes to +ve pin of maxim board. But I'm wonder the battery still getting charge. 
 can you explain how? 
 or do I need to swap the battery wires.
