How to prevent input current limit from reaching and part turning off charger

Question

The MAX77975 limits input current from the charger input according to your setting in register 0x1F, however if the part senses input current has reached the limit for more than 30msec, it turns off the charger and sets an error bit in register 0x12. This seems to be an error based on the part not doing what it was configured to do. I am experiencing this situation. How are we supposed to prevent this from happening? Thanks..
