Hey,
I went through the datasheet for MAX77789 and I'm interested in using this IC for a new design that also has an active USB 2.0 datapath. In the datasheet application example the STAT2 pin is used for controlling a MUX for the data lines, but as I understand the default mode for this is fault indication, and the reset value of the STAT2_USAGE is 0b00 which is the FAULT indication mode.
My questions are:
- Given that an I2C write transaction has to be done in order to properly control the data lines MUX, I don't see how an initial bootstrap would work, where the pin operates as a fault indicator. How this would look like in terms of timings? I haven't found info on timing when the I2C interface is available for transactions.
- Is there an option to program a non-volatile memory to set the defaults, so even in case of complete loss of power the default setting for STAT2 is that it indicates charger detection done?
- Does this device support operating without a battery, only from VBUS?
- Is there any alternative AD product that has similar functionality, but has a dedicated pin for signaling charger detection complete that can be used for driving a data lines MUX without any supervision?
Thanks & BR,
Ferenc
