What is the advantages and disadvantages between daisy chain and addressable serial interface when using LTC6803 on the multi cell battery stack systems?
In addressable serial interface the microcontroller talks to the device whose address is selected. Whereas in daisy chain you can stack multiple devices and one single command is propagated to multiple ICs starting from the bottom to the top.
Secondly there can be only 16 addressable devices connected in one system where as in daisy chain there is no limit to how many devices can be connected.
If you are planning to do daisy chain then I will recommend you to use 6804 or higher as they support isoSPI interface for daisy chain which is more robust and provides isolation between 2 devices while communicating. You can select one of the latest BMS parts which may be better suited for your application. It is available here - https://www.analog.com/en/parametricsearch/11532#/
