The exposed pad/paddle (EP) of MAX17320 may be connected to the CSN pin. It should not tie to any other ground if it is tied to CSN to avoid current measurement errors.
It doesn’t have much power dissipation function on the MAX17320 because the IC doesn’t have much heat generated inside. The only time there is any current moving through is with zero volt charging, or cell balancing, and even then, it’s only ~ 50 mA of current.
