Original Question: Noise analysis by MDD
I am using ADIsimPE to simulate an 1st order filter using a AD8646. I am interested in the output noise, but I am having problems making the simulator work. I have followed the instructions in "Help" for the "Noise Analysis Sheet" and I have placed a name on the output and input nets using a "Small Terminal". The error I am seeing is ...
Where am I going wrong?
Verified Answer: RE: Noise analysis by MDD
Hi Jay,
I have solved the problem I was having. The simulator was stating it could not find a nets "In, "R2_P" and Output. I added the small terminal connectors to the input and output, these are now labelled In and Out, but I failed to label R2_P. So the steps I have taken to see the noise trace are:
a) Label nets with small terminal connector, see circuit below.
b) Setup the noise analysis form, in "Choose Analysis", as shown below.
c) Then to see the output noise I selected "Plot Output Noise" in the Probe AC/Noise pull down menu.
Thanks, Mike.
Question: RE: Noise analysis by JGunao
Hi Mike,
Can you share the schematic file that you created using the ADIsimPE? Please also include in the schematic the noise analysis settings that you made.
Thanks,
Jay
Question: RE: Noise analysis by JGunao
Hi Mike,
It is also possible to directly simulate the output and input noise without using any small terminal connectors. Based on your schematic, just simply use X1_OUT or X1_out as the output node and V2 as the source name.
It's good to know that you already got the desired output. Please let me know if need anything else. Thanks for using ADIsimPE.

Jay
