Does MAX15158 require an external power supply?
Yes, MAX15158 requires an 5.6V to 14V external power supply applied on its DRV pin for the internal circuits and reference to power up.
Take a look at the Soft-Start and Shutdown Sequence with EN/UVLO from the data sheet. The DRV pin needs to be enabled prior to the sequence to begin.
