The ADP2303 has a shutdown current specification ranging from 24µA (typ) to 45µA (max). To achieve this and reduce the overall current consumption of the design, one strategy is to avoid using the PGOOD signal of the controller. The PGOOD pin is an open-drain output that requires a pull-up resistor connected to a voltage source. When the circuit is shut down and the output is low, the PGOOD pin is pulled LOW, causing the pull-up resistor to draw current from the circuit.
