Q
What is the shelf life of the drypack or moisture barrier bag used to shipMoisture/Reflow Sensitive Surface Mount Devices?
A
Shelf Life Expiration: The shelf life of the moisture barrier bag from date ofseal is 12 months. If the shelf life has expired, the bag is to be opened. If
the Humidity Indicator Card is less than 10%, the components have not been
exposed to an unsafe level of moisture. As such, the bag should be resealed
with new desiccant and a new Humidity Indicator Card. An additional 12 month
shelf life can be added to the new label attached to the moisture barrier bag.
If the shelf life has expired and the HIC is greater than 10%, the product must
be rebaked and repacked in a moisture barrier bag with new desiccant and
humidity indicator card.
The shelf life in the ADI specification is in line with IPC/JEDEC J-STD-033A on
Handling, Packing, Shipping, and Use of Moisture/Reflow Sensitive Surface Mount
Devices.
