How can I enable StealthChop on the Trinamic Eval board?

Depending on the Trinamic evaluation board you have, StealthChop can be disabled by default. However, it's quite easy to enable it. Please note that this only works for products that actually have StealthChop. If you're not sure whether or not your product has this feature, please check out the product's page on our website (https://www.trinamic.com/) or the datasheet of the product.



This step by step guide explains how to set StealthChop using the default mode.
  1. In the TMCL-IDE, select "Tools" in the top navigation bar, and select "Wizard Pool".
  2. In the Wizard Pool that pops-up, select the StealthChop function. If you have an evaluation board that can drive multiple motors, be sure to select StealthChop for the correct axis.
  3. Go to the next page.
  4. All StealthChop settings are automatically set, so you won't have to do anything here.
  5. Set vmax, amax in the top left bar.
  6. Move and stop the motor with the play button. That's all there is to it, you can now use StealthChop on the evaluation board.
Please note: StealthChop has two modes. In the default mode, a lower current applies. Also, you can set Vsense = 1 (CHOPCONF). This will scale down the maximum current.
