The MAX7037 is a 4-band sub-GHz RF transceiver with an integrated 8051 microcontroller and a mixed-signal sensor interface. It has an 8051 microcontroller core with 64kB of Flash memory which is more than most of the competitors' solutions in the market.
The wide input voltage range of MAX7037 is from 2.1-5.5V .This gives this device an edge in flexibility of battery selection specially the use of lithium polymer batteries which gives around 4.2V at full charge and can go down to 2.8V in typical end of charge scenarios. The other devices in the market has input voltage range from 1.8V-3.8V and they can not use lithium polymer batteries.
Another important specification of MAX7037 is the industry's lowest power down current of 100nA. In modern IOT devices this specification is more important than active currents as most of sensors become active only once in a month or year (e.g smoke detector, intruder alarms etc) and their battery lives are dictated by how more efficient they are under power down (sleep) state.
MAX7037 has transmitter waveform shaping feature that allows the solution to meet occupied bandwidth and restricted spectral limitations of regulator bodies like FCC.
