Industrial applications usually undergo a UL certification. In failure cases UL requires not only a limitation of voltage and current but also limits the power that is allowed to be dissipated.
By using the power limiting feature of MAX17526, the user can guarantee that a certain power is not exceeded which is key for the passing a certification which is very often not achieved by a plain voltage/current limitation.
