Question
We are using the SuperSequencer Evaluation Software to program the ADM1068 through the parallel-to-I2C dongle in mass-production.A "recal action" is required every time after the hardware connection is ready.Should we use USB-SMBUS-CABLEZ to avoid the repeating of "recal action"?We want to save time in the production.Could you please help us and give some comments on it?
Answer
Using either the parallel port dongle, or the USB-SMBUS-CABLEZ the procedure to program the part is the same, they would have to use the Recallsettings to program a connected device. There is an alternative command line tool that is installed with the software, prog106x, that can be usedwith the USB-SMBUS-CABLEZ dongle, and it can be run from a command line batch file, so it may be a better choice for automating within a productionenvironment. However, it should be noted though, that it is standard ADI policy that all evaluation boards and evaluation software are not for use in a productionenvironment, they are not built or tested to ensure reliable operation in that sort of environment. We cannot recommend using the eval tools andsoftware in this.If a customer decide to do so, it’s entirely at their own risk. Our recommended way of production programming is to either program the part on a board using their own software over I2C, or to use a third partydevice programmer to pre-program the parts prior to placing them on a board
