Question
I'm currently using the ADSP-2186 DSP, and I'm looking to migrate to the
Blackfin processors. Do Blackfin processors support anything like the Host
Memory Mode on the ADSP-2186 DSP?
Answer
The newly introduced ADSP-BF54x Blackfin Processor family includes a Host DMA
Interface. From the datasheet
(http://www.analog.com/processors/blackfin/technicalLibrary/dataSheets.html):
"The host DMA port (HOST) facilitates a host device external to the ADSP-BF54x
to be a DMA master and transfer data back and forth. The host device always
masters the transactions and the processor is always a DMA slave device."
