Question
Can the ADF7242 be used for another protocol which is not defined in thedatasheet, such as FSK modulation and demodulation.
All the performance specifications are defined as TRANSMIT PATHGFSK/FSK MODE and RECEIVE PATH GFSK MODE.Are these values are optimised values forbluetooth communication.
Answer
The ADF7242 does not support the short preamble required for Bluetooth. It requires 11 bytes at 2Mbps versus I believe 1 byte required for Bluetooth. There are also some limitations in the channel hop time required by the ADF7242 versus the Bluetooth protocol. The nominal RX calibration time ismore than 600us on the ADF7242. With default operation this time would be required when changing RX frequency. Some reduction is possible on thistime but sufficient reduction to meet BLE has not been established.
