Question
Can you just clarify what the restrictions are when communicating with the EZ
kit via USB with no ICE on a test drive?
Answer
Access to the processor from the PC is achieved through a USB port (this is the
on-board USB Debugger Interface) or an optional JTAG emulator. For initial
evaluation, you could use the USB interface, which gives unrestricted access to
the processor and the evaluation board peripherals. The JTAG emulators offer
faster communication between the host PC and target hardware, however, they are
costly (USB Debugger Interface is part of the EZ-Kit and can be used with the
provided USB cable with no extra cost).
The EZ-KIT Lite is a licensed product that offers an unrestricted evaluation
license for the first 90 days. Once the initial unrestricted 90-day evaluation
license expires:
* VisualDSP++ allows a connection to the EZ-KIT Lite via the USB Debug Agent
interface only. Connections to simulators and emulation products are no longer
allowed.
* The linker restricts a users program to 20 KB of internal memory for code
space with no restrictions for data space.
