Using the MAX9867, I want to design a mono microphone input for my project. Can I use the right microphone input?
MAX9867 was designed to have the left microphone as the primary input channel. If the left microphone input is disabled, the right microphone input is disabled as well. If you have already designed your application using the right microphone input, a work-around might be to enable both the left and right microphone inputs in register 0x12 and 0x13 respectively. This scenario would lead to more power consumption as both the right and left microphone circuitry is enabled and is not the recommended design practice.
