How to use a power adapter with the MAX77860

Question

My battery charger design needs to accept power from USB or power adapter (power from a wall cube / power supply). The MAX77860 datasheet claims its power input can accept power from USB or a number of chargers including a "dedicated charger" with current of 500mA to Imax. Is a "dedicated charger" a standard power supply that has no communication capabilities with the mAX77860? And, how does the MAX77860 know how much current to draw?
