What is the maximum current output of the MAX8521 ITEC pin (TEC current monitor output)?
The EC table specification states that the maximum TEC current that can be set is ±1.5A. The ITEC pin voltage is proportional to the TEC current and is capable of monitoring the full range of the TEC current set by the customer. (If the customer sets it to ±1.5A, then ITEC can monitor ±1.5A; if the customer sets it to ±1A, then ITEC can monitor ±1A). The design flow is:
First, select Rsense to set the maximum TEC current. ITEC(max) = 150mV / Rsense (assuming MAXIP = MAXIN = VREF).
Once Rsense is selected, the ITEC voltage is a function of Rsense: VITEC = 1.5V + 8 x Rsense x ITEC.
