The four ADPD221x products each have different potential applications.

    • The ADPD2210 is a standalone current amplifier, which takes any current source up to 10 µA as an input and sources 24x the input current on its output while adding very low noise. This part is not limited to use with photodiodes and may be used as a preamplifier for any current source or current output sensor.
    • The ADPD2211 is an integrated low capacitance photodiode and current amplifier in a 2x3 mm clear plastic package. The integration of the detector and electronics improves noise performance and saves space as compared with a standalone photodiode and TIA design.
    • The ADPD2212 is an integrated photodiode with an optical filter and current amplifier in a 3x4 mm clear plastic package. The optical filter is responsive to wavelengths of light in the visible region, and rejects infrared light. One application for this part is optical heart rate monitoring, where green LEDs are typically used as a light source.
    • The ADPD2214 is an integrated photodiode with an optical filter and current amplifier in a 4x4 mm clear plastic package. The optical filter is responsive only to green light, and is designed specifically with the heart rate monitoring application in mind.
