I am currently using the ADPD188BI to detect smoke on my application, and another requirement for my application is to detect light e.g: the presence of light - no light
I could use an external module/sensor for this task, but it could be cool to reduce cost and extra hardware, use the photodiodes on ADPD188BI to detect it.
what could be recommended a configuration to the registers to just detect background light? I don't need measure the amount of light, just an on/off style
The ADPD188BI has the ADPD1080 inside as the analog front end. There is a TIA_ADC mode which allows the user to measure ambient light. I would recommend downloading the ADPD1080 datasheet from www.analog.com and taking a look at the section describing ambient light measurement using TIA_ADC mode.
i am working on adpd188bi ,i want to interface adpd188bi with esp32 wroom so please send me driver and example code of adpd188bi
The drivers for the ADPD188BI can be found on github at https://github.com/analogdevicesinc/adpd-drivers
Hey, Buckley is there any way to get the lux/lumens value for the background light when using TIA_ADC mode, I am summing the PDTE1 and PDTE2 to the channel1 getting the combined value on A_PD1_LOW register
Yes, you could convert the output of the 188 module to lux/lumens, but you would have to know the spectral distribution of the light source.
